What We Believe
Omega Baptist Church is a Bible believing, Christ centered church. We affirm with our whole hearts that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior, the Son of God, crucified for our sins, risen from the dead, and coming again. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God, our final authority for faith and life.
We believe salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, that whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, and that every believer is called to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
We believe in the local church, the body of believers baptized by the Holy Spirit, gathered to preach the Gospel, teach the Word, worship in spirit and in truth, and carry the love of Christ to our city and to the world.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Godhead, who convicts, regenerates, indwells, seals, and empowers every believer in Jesus Christ. He is our Comforter, our Teacher, and our Guide into all truth, and in all He does He glorifies Christ.
We believe the Holy Spirit dwells in all of us who belong to Christ, not in priests or pastors only. He is not kept from the people or given by the hands of men. Every believer receives Him directly from God through faith in Jesus Christ, and every believer may be filled with Him, hear His voice, and walk in His power.
We believe the Holy Spirit distributes gifts to the body as He wills, for the edifying of the church and the work of the ministry, and that He moves in our worship, our praying, and our daily walk in ways that are real, powerful, and personal.
Within our congregation, believers experience and express the ministry of the Holy Spirit in different measures and in different manners. Some testify of gifts of the Spirit at work in their prayer life and in their worship. Others walk faithfully with the Lord and do not operate in those same expressions. We receive one another in love, for we are one body, baptized by one Spirit, serving one Lord, and no gift makes one believer more loved by God than another.
We believe everything in the house of God is done decently and in order, that the gifts of the Spirit serve the body and never divide it, and that the surest evidence of His presence among us is His fruit: love, joy, peace, and lives changed by the power of God.
Baptism
We believe baptism is an ordinance of the church commanded by our Lord Jesus Christ. By baptism, a believer publicly confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and testifies that the old life is buried and a new life has begun. We practice baptism by immersion in water, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, following the pattern of Scripture and the example of our Lord. Baptism does not save us. Salvation is in Christ alone. Baptism is our joyful act of obedience to Him.
Holy Communion
We believe Holy Communion, the Lord's Supper, is an ordinance of the church given by Jesus Christ on the night He was betrayed. In the bread we remember His body, broken for us. In the cup we remember His blood, shed for the remission of our sins. We partake together as one body, proclaiming the Lord's death until He comes, examining our hearts, and giving thanks for the finished work of Calvary. We invite all who have trusted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior to share with us at His table.
